It's a Knockout Charity Event for Poole Hospital Charity NHS Foundation Trust at Poole Park, Dorset Charity Fundraising Event Having run a dragon boat event previously, Poole Hospital Charity NHS Foundation Trust approached Gable Events looking for a new charity fundraising event to excite their supporters in Poole and the surrounding areas. Gable Events It’s a Knockout proved to be the perfect solution! Our different price bands for different numbers of teams gave the charity the reassurance and flexibility they were looking for owing to the difficulty in forecasting the level of interest for a first time event. The Client and the Venue Poole Hospital Charity is a branch of the NHS Foundation Trust. There is a long tradition of charitable support for the UK’s hospitals. While the NHS receives enormous public resources, there is always more that can be done to support patients and their families. Funds raised by Poole Hospital Charity help to pay for additional equipment, research and innovations, as well as finishing touches and ‘extras’ that complement the existing high quality care for patients at the Hospital. Situated next to Poole Harbour in Poole, Dorset, Poole Park was opened during the Victorian era and has remained popular with visitors ever since. It is open all year round and hosts a number of events. The facilities at Poole Park include two children’s play areas, tennis courts, a bowling green, miniature golf and a ride-able miniature railway. A cricket field and pavilion inside the park are home to Poole Town Cricket Club and you can arrange water sport activities such as dragon boat racing on the lake through Gable Events. Gable Events Role Gable Events were heavily involved and assisted in all aspects of the event from the time of booking right up to the event itself. This included giving advice on entry fee levels and expectations for sponsorship as well as providing promotional support to assist with marketing the event to potential teams. This included providing high resolution images to help create an enticing poster to attract the teams. The Event The event ran like clockwork on a glorious sunny day in Poole Park. Not only did the teams and client have a fantastic event, it generated a lot of interest from the general public who were passing by. Gable Events offered 8 games, with classics such as ‘Chicken Run’, where teams have to dress in giant chicken costumes and collect eggs from the mother hen, and ‘Washing Machine’, where teams must go head to head in a race to find the ten yellow balls from our giant pits of foam! After a hard fought competition, the ‘Let’s Get Physical’ team achieved victory, winning by just 20 points! Repeat Booking Poole Hospital Charity NHS Foundation Trust and the entered teams were so impressed with the event that it was immediately re-booked for the following year. This time around, with the help of Gable Events and the positive publicity from the first event, the charity is hoping to generate even more interest and teams!
