It’s a Knockout Social Event for Tesco Grimsby, Lincolnshire Annual Event Gable Events have run It’s a Knockout events in Grimsby for Tesco regional staff for the past two years. The event is made up of 18 teams representing stores from all over the region including Bradford, Barnsley, Doncaster, Hull, Leeds, Scunthorpe, Chesterfield, Grimsby, Sheffield, Cleethorpes, Lincoln and York. This event acts as a very important chance for Tesco in the East Midlands and Yorkshire to build teamwork internally within each store but also to bring together all the stores to work as one big team. The Client and the Venue Tesco Plc is a British multinational grocery and general merchandise retailer with its headquarters in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire. Tesco is the third largest retailer in the world, has stores in 12 countries across Asia and Europe and employs a team of over 500,000 people in 12 markets. Tesco Grimsby book the Cherry Garth Scouts base each year for their it’s a knockout event as it provides a cost effective venue and enables them to bring in their own BBQ to help raise money for their charity of the year. Head and Shoulders above the Competition Tesco Group approached Gable Events after an unsatisfactory experience with a previous It’s a Knockout company. They were thrilled with our games, professionalism and service. “Thanks for the results, fab. You’re head & shoulders, way way way above the knockout company we used last year. The extra cost was extremely worthwhile, everyone has been texting all day detailing how much better, fun, etc etc you were. So again, a million thanks!” Variety of Games Gable events provided popular games for the first event such as ‘Human Demolition Zone’ where two teams go head to head in a battle to knock each other off a giant inflatable podium with our giant wrecking ball and ‘Chicken Run’ where two teams race to hurdle our giant hay bales to collect eggs from the mother hen. This isn’t as easy as it sounds as they were dressed in our giant sumo chicken outfits! The initial event proved to be so close it could only be settled by an exciting and very wet play off between the Clifton Moor Crusaders and the Barnsley Tykes on the Human Washing Machine! In the second year, Gable Events understood the importance of changing the games and keeping the event fresh and enjoyable for the participants. To achieve this, brand new games were introduced such as ‘Basketball shootout’ and ‘Build a Burger’ where teams must race through our inflatable biff bash in a relay to collect ingredients to create the perfect burger. The first and final runners have the most difficult task as they are dressed in our giant bun costumes! These new games proved to be a big hit with the teams, providing fierce competition as well as a bucket-load of hilarity.
